PUBLIC PARTICIPATION - Chair Peterson called for public participation and Matt <br /> McGuire requested to address the board. <br /> Matt McGuire, Kennesaw Nebraska requested to address the County Board. He noted <br /> that because of the recent accident by Wood River he will come to every board meeting <br /> and request more patrol on Highway 30. He also ask to reduce the speed limit. It is a <br /> jungle out there and people need to drive more safely. <br /> He expressed concern on the following. <br /> • Noted repair on Alda Road <br /> • Expressed concern on the washouts in Hall County <br /> • Concern about Schultz Road and that they tried to fix it he suggested using white <br /> rock he is tire of the excuses he is representing other people <br /> • When he hauls grain people pass and cut around them semis stop better at <br /> 55mph <br /> • Road safety is an issue need to address Highway 30 <br /> • He is appalled at the total disrespect that people have <br /> • He would like to get a job with the state to address washouts <br /> • The county guys are concerned on the cost of fuel he suggested that they do <br /> jobs that do not require less fuel and ask if they had project like that <br /> • Safety is an ongoing thing and he noted how the county is having recruitment <br /> issues. <br /> He stated that he is tired of excuses you need to listen to the rural people and take road <br /> seriously people get killed on Highway #30 <br /> COMMITTEE OR BOARD MEMBER REPORTS - Lancaster stated she has good news <br /> the NPERS board met and there will be a 6.5% dividend on the county employee's next <br /> statement. She also noted that since she has been on the NPERS board and over the <br /> last 5 years there has been a 21.4% dividend total. This is reflective of last year's stock <br /> market. The board had approved giving returns to the participants. They have to follow <br /> state statutes and make sure that the dollars will cover any expenses in future years. <br /> Bredthauer reported she attended the Regional planning commission meeting and there <br /> is a proposed truck wash that will be located by Bosselmans. Bosselman is proposing <br /> to sell the land that is the lagoon to the company for the truck wash. Bosselmans is <br /> currently on city sewer so they do not need the 2 lagoons and are proposing to sell this <br /> land for the truck wash. <br /> Richardson reported that "Go Big Give" was very successful Stuhr received $28,881.00 <br /> Casa received $4,192.00, Humane Society received $11,357.00. United Way reported <br /> this was an all-time high. <br /> 5 <br />
