HALL COUNTY WEED CONTROL <br /> ROBERT SCHULTZ - SUPERINTENDENT <br /> 2807 W 2' ST GRAND ISLAND, NE 68803 <br /> PHONE: 385-5097 FAX: 385-5121 <br /> roberts@hallcountyne.gov <br /> April 4, 2022 <br /> The Hall County Weed Board met on April 4, 2022 at 3:00 pm for the monthly meeting. <br /> Members present were Francis Hannon, Neal Sidders, Gary Jacobson, Kelly Markham, <br /> Wayne Foster, Rob Schultz and Hall County Commissioner Scott Sorenson. <br /> The meeting was opened at 3:00 PM. Minutes were read by Gary and approved with a <br /> motion by Neal. Francis seconded. Motion passed. <br /> Claims for March were read and approved with a motion by Neal and seconded by Kelly. <br /> Motion carried. March expenses to date are: $6,488.74 and income was no income. <br /> Public Participation: Rob presented a "thank you" card that he received from Fillmore <br /> County Extension Office for speaking at a conference for them. <br /> Old Business: <br /> • Discussed Platte River Resilience Fund funding, there will be more funds coming <br /> to the endowment. They are still looking for a fund raising person. <br /> • Rob attended the NWCA Spring Training in Kearney March 30-31St <br /> • LB 805 and LB805A were passed in Select File in the Nebraska Legislature. <br /> Now it will go to Final Reading. This is for Invasive Species Control on <br /> Nebraska Rivers and streams. Will be getting an increase from $1 million to $3 <br /> million annually for the next 2 years. <br /> New Business: <br /> • Rob(Ex. Dir. of NWCA), Mike Reed(Pres of NWCA), and Jimmy Petersen(vice- <br /> Pres of NWCA) met with the Dept. of Agriculture Director, Steve Wellman, <br /> regarding NDA Rules and Regulations changes on the use of non-native <br /> Phragmites in waste water treatment facilities. It is a lengthy process, but there <br /> may be a hearing this summer to testify at. <br /> • PVWMA update: Will be discussing LB805 at the meeting on Thursday, April <br /> 7th <br /> • Reviewed the items price list. A motion was made to raise labor charges by 12% <br /> by Wayne, seconded by Gary. Motion passed. Will look at charges for cash and <br /> carry chemicals for County use and adjust prices. <br /> • Rob discussed the chemical line item in Weed Dept. budget. With the price <br /> increase in chemicals and increased business, the chemical line dollar amount <br /> may be running out in the next month or so. Scott will bring it up at the county <br /> board meeting next week to see if there is a little funding available somewhere to <br /> help out if needed towards the end of the fiscal year. <br /> A motion to adjourn was made by Francis and seconded by Kelly. Motion carried. <br /> The next meeting will be held Monday, May 2, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. <br /> Gary Jacobson, Secretary <br />
