Lancaster said she has served on the negotiations committee since the beginning of her <br /> term and if someone has an interest to let her know she has also been on and off of the <br /> Senior Citizens board. She noted that it makes sense for Scott or Karen to be on the <br /> roads committee. Karen is on the safety committee. <br /> Bredthauer reported that Regional Planning has rezoned Lewis Green Scape and they <br /> hope this is the right zoning. She also noted there is a new subdivision on Highway 2. <br /> She stated College Park has some nice oak tables and they are trying to get rid of them. <br /> She also noted that College park building is 27 years old and there is only $100,000 in <br /> the sinking fund. If there were any big projects like replacing the boilers or a roof <br /> replacement there would not be enough. The library and other areas are not rented. <br /> They are look at other revenue sources she suggested a coffee shop. <br /> Lancaster noted there have been special assessment in the past. <br /> A copy of the committee assignment will be e mail to the board members. <br /> Lancaster noted that LB 301 address the inheritance tax and it is important to contact <br /> the senator to keep on track with this. There is concern that there may be a loss on the <br /> keno funds and if the inheritance tax is lost that is a serious concern. She also noted <br /> that it is important to put some of the COVID dollars back into the inheritance tax fund. <br /> The county may need to look at other avenues to make up for the losses. Richardson <br /> noted that the county does not have a pot of gold that we do not need. <br /> Sorensen made a motion and Bredthauer second to close the Board of Equalization <br /> meeting. Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Peterson, Richardson and Sorensen <br /> all voted yes and no one voted no. Motion carried. <br /> Meeting recessed at 11:19 a.m. and will come back at 2:00 p.m. <br /> Returned to session 2:00 p.m. <br /> CLERK OF THE DISTRICT COURT INTERVIEWS —the Board received one internal <br /> application from Jennifer Poppen the current chief deputy. <br /> 1. Purpose for interviews is to appoint the Clerk of the District Court. Jennifer <br /> Poppen stated she is the current Chief Deputy and has served under Valerie and <br /> is supported by the people in her office. She live in Grand Island and her children <br /> attended school here. She worked at the Social Security Office, Cain Weber, <br /> Nash Finch and a software company in Aurora, In May 2021 she will have She <br /> will have 20 years as an employee of the office. <br /> 2. What motivated her to apply? Jennifer stated she was appointed by Valorie and <br /> they have a good group of people and she can step into the position. The staff <br /> supports her appointment. <br /> 8 <br />
