Adjourned the Board of Equalization meeting a returned to the regular <br /> meeting. <br /> Public participation — Chari Lancaster called for public participation and Casey Muzik <br /> with Midland Area Agency on Aging was present. <br /> Hurst stated that t the budget meeting August 3 the board was asking for some <br /> information regarding the funds for MAAA. Casey distributed information to the board <br /> members. <br /> Quandt noted that the dues are paid per capita and ask how the funds for the meals are <br /> distributed. Senior Citizens oversees some programs like the Homemaker Chores <br /> program and the HyVee voucher program and it has been a successful program. If all <br /> of the funds go to Senior Citizens then the other programs would have receive any <br /> funding. Right now Doniphan received $2,400 Wood River $2,400, and Grand <br /> Generation Center $10,045.00 with total of$14,845.00. <br /> MAAA pays Cairo $2,400 N allows $1,180 for HyVee and the Homemaker Chores <br /> program receives $700.00 the toast of all of the funds is $19,125.00 <br /> Peterson ask what the point is to send the money to her then she sends it back. Casey <br /> stated that in the event there are extra dollars then the HyVee program was created. <br /> They are open on the weekends and until 7:00 p.m. it has been a successful program. <br /> Each person can have 5 vouchers a month. Concern was expressed that HyVee gets <br /> more for the meals but they get the same reimbursement as Senior Citizens. Casey <br /> explained the breakdown and it is the same for the Senior Center and HyVee. <br /> Lancaster noted that the county subsidized the Grand Generation Center because they <br /> ran short so the county budgeted extra dollars. <br /> Richardson stated she is not in favor of the $70,000 because they do not do any fund <br /> raising any other nonprofits do fund raising. Lancaster noted that the senior center <br /> rents the facility and they also have received donations <br /> Casey stated that all of the Senior Centers do fundraising she also noted that they <br /> received $64,000 for COVID expenses and that will be addressed.
