All seven board members get the same <br /> information this is working well. <br /> Peterson stated his interpretation was more of a communication issue there is no action unless <br /> it comes to the full board. The board is still working through this there are still remnants of the <br /> past they need to keep communication open. <br /> Richardson withdrew her motion. <br /> Mr. Riehle came back with the bids on the grader blades. He checked the math and there was a <br /> 60 cents error. He is recommending awarding the bid to Midwest Sales & Service in the amount <br /> of $20,722.00. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Hartman seconded to award the bid for the motor grader blades to <br /> Midwest Sales and Service. <br /> Mr. Riehle stated that he needs to look at the bids for the pressure washer and he will come <br /> back in two weeks. <br /> Mr. Humphrey came back with the bids on the tree removal and the low bid was from Leetch <br /> Tree Service. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Hartman seconded to accept the low bid from Leetch Tree Service. <br /> Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Peterson, Quandt and Richardson all voted yes and <br /> none voted no. DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION ON VETERANS HOME BUILDINGS & <br /> PROPERTY - Quandt stated that 5 years ago they put the relocation of the Veterans home out <br /> for bids and it was moved to Kearney. January 16, 2019 the veterans were moved to the new <br /> facility in Kearney. All but 40 acres of the home site the city has taken over. The state is going <br /> out for proposals for a plan for the Veterans Home but the plan as to have a fiscal side. There <br /> will be public meetings regarding the use of the buildings. The City or the County cannot afford <br /> to take it on. These building should be used to help veterans. Could they use TIF money to <br /> develop it? Whatever the plan is there needs to be a fiscal side. He noted that there are still a <br /> lot of veterans that have problems. There needs to be a plan to make sure the veterans have a <br /> voice. <br /> Lancaster stated she recently returned from the veterans meeting in Washington and there are <br /> statistics that 20 veterans a day commit suicide and 6 out of 20 veterans are homeless. We <br /> have the veteran's hospital in Grand Island. She also stated that she is proud of the fact that no <br /> veteran has ever went without military honors if they so wished in Hall County. <br /> Chair Lancaster called for public participation <br /> Jay Vavricek 2729 Brentwood Boulevard ask the board to make 2 decisions today. Moving <br /> forward the veterans should have a stake in this process. We need to fear the words "oh well <br /> there is nothing that we can do." We cannot undo what has been done but we can look at the <br /> 12 <br />
