HALL COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION MEETING AUGUST 7, 2018 <br /> 9: 05 a.m. Arnold made a motion and Quandt seconded to go into a Board of Equalization <br /> meeting. • <br /> ROLL CALL VOTE — Present on roll call vote were Scott Arnold, Karen Bredthauer, Pamela <br /> Lancaster, Douglas Lanfear, Gary Quandt, and Jane Richardson. Steve Schuppan was absent. <br /> NOTICE OF OPEN MEETING LAW—Chair Richardson read the notice of the open meeting <br /> law. <br /> VERIFY AFFIDAVIT OF PUBLICATION —The affidavit of publication was received. <br /> MINUTES—Lancaster made a motion and Lanfear seconded to approve the minutes of the July <br /> 24, 2018 meeting. Arnold, Bredthauer, Lancaster, Lanfear, Quandt and Richardson all voted <br /> yes and none voted no. Schuppan was absent. Motion carried. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION - Chair Richardson called for public participation and no one <br /> responded. <br /> 3. RECONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE DENIAL OF THIRD CITY ARCHERS REQUEST <br /> FOR EXEMPTION AS PER STATE STATUTE 77-202 - County Assessor Kristi Wold was <br /> present and provided the board with the information from the Nebraska Department of Revenue <br /> regarding their request to reconsider the exemption application from Third City Archers. <br /> Discussion was held and Chair Jane Richardson called Third City Archers asking if they teach <br /> classes for the Grand Island Public Schools and they stated they did not but do teach in other <br /> schools. The board noted that they are all volunteers. They are requesting the exemption as <br /> an educational organization. <br /> County Attorney Sarah Carstensen read the definition of educational as follows <br /> 1) Offered by an institution operated exclusively for purpose of offering instruction <br /> 2) Have regular courses with systematic instruction in an academic vocational or technical <br /> subject <br /> Lancaster made a motion and Quandt seconded to approve the exemption application for Third <br /> City Archer's as an educational organization. Discussion was held and County Attorney Sarah <br /> Carstensen was ask to send a letter regarding this. Arnold, Bredthauer, Lancaster, Lanfear, <br /> Quandt and Richardson all voted yes and none voted no. Schuppan was absent.
