County Assessor Jan Pelland stated that anytime they change an amount that has been
certified to the Hall County Treasurer they issue a tax correction notice. They also have
changes on mobile homes. She stated that quite often the Department of Revenue may
approve the amount of a homestead application and it is changed because of income or
other reasons they send a letter to Jan and a letter to the applicant because they can
contest the change. They receive them quite often on mobile homes. If an application is
denied or the percentage level is changed they use a tax correction notice then they
have to file a report with the Department of Revenue.
Jan stated that tax correction notices can be used for the following.
• TERC decision changes
• Amended personal property tax schedules
• Change a real estate value because of a clerical error or something that they are
not aware of
They are processed through the normal channels and copies are kept at the County
Clerk's office. Discussion was held and it was decided that the board needs to have
additional oversight. If the Chari is authorized to initial the changes they need to have
copies.
Pelland stated that it would be easier to just make copies of the notices and include
them in the board packets. Richardson questioned if they should just look at notices at
a certain dollar amount. Jan stated it would be easier to just copy all of the notice.
Quandt stated he would just like advance information.
NEW OR UNFINISHED BUSINESS —The board cannot take action on non-agenda
items — Chairman Arnold called for new or unfinished business and no one responded.
9:30 a.m. adjourned back to the regular meeting.
11111
I -i -,
Mar a J.
