HALL COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION MEETING APRIL 5, 2016 <br /> 9:10 a.m. Purdy made a motion and Lanfear seconded to go into a Board of Equalization <br /> meeting. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes <br /> and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> ROLL CALL - Present on roll call were Scott Arnold, Pam Lancaster, Doug Lanfear, Dan Purdy, <br /> Gary Quandt, Jane Richardson and Steve Schuppan. . <br /> CALL TO ORDER—Chairman Arnold called the Board of Equalization meeting to order. <br /> NOTICE OF OPEN MEETING LAW—Chairman Arnold read the notice of open meeting law. <br /> VERIFY AFFIDAVIT OF PUBLICATION -Affidavit of publication of publication for the meeting <br /> on file. <br /> MINUTES— Purdy made a motion and Schuppan seconded to place on file the minutes of the <br /> March 22, 2016 meeting. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt, Richardson and <br /> Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION Chairman Arnold called for public participation and no one <br /> responded. <br /> 3. COUNTY ATTORNEY EXECUTIVE SESSION— IMMINENT LITIGATION— Lancaster made <br /> a motion and Purdy seconded to go into executive session. There are two reasons for <br /> executive session to prevent needless harm or injury to an individual or to protect the public <br /> interest. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes <br /> and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 9:11 a.m. Executive session <br /> 10:02 a.m. Quandt made a motion and Richardson seconded to go out of executive session. <br /> Chairman Arnold stated that no other subjects were discussed, no votes were taken and no <br /> action was taken. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all <br /> voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 4. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING PERMISSIVE EXEMPTION <br /> APPLICATIONS FOR PLATTE RIVER WHOPPING CRANE MAINTENANCE TRUST <br /> County Assessor Jan Pelland stated that the application for Platte River Whooping Crane Trust <br /> was reviewed at the last meeting and they were waiting on documentation. That information <br /> was received yesterday and she has not had time to review and make any changes on her <br /> recommendation. She is asking that this be postponed for further review. <br /> Chairman Arnold noted the number of people in the audience and asked if they would like to <br /> address the board. <br /> Ron Wanitschke, Wood River stated that he heard that they were given $7 million dollars to <br /> come here and they said they would be good neighbors and pay the taxes. He asked what <br /> happened. They lease the pasture and farm ground. If you want to buy land how can you go <br /> up against some one that is tax exempt? If that is the case he would like to apply to be tax <br /> exempt also. <br /> 1 <br />
