HALL COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION MEETING JULY 29, 2014 <br /> 9:05 a.m. Quandt made a motion and Ziola seconded to go into a Board of Equalization <br /> meeting. <br /> ROLL CALL VOTE — Present on roll call vote were Scott Arnold, Pamela Lancaster, <br /> Bob McFarland, Daniel Purdy, Gary Quandt, Steve Schuppan and David Ziola. Also <br /> present were Chief Deputy County Attorney Jack Zitterkopf, Board Assistant Stacey <br /> Ruzicka and County Assessor Jan Pelland. <br /> Chairman McFarland called the meeting to order. <br /> NOTICE OF OPEN MEETING LAW — Chairman McFarland read the notice of the open <br /> meeting law. <br /> MINUTES — Ziola made a motion and Quandt seconded to approve the minutes of the <br /> July 15 and July 21, 2014 meetings. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, <br /> Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION - Chairman McFarland called for public participation and no <br /> one responded. <br /> 1. TAX LIST CORRECTIONS —County Assessor Jan Pelland presented tax correction <br /> notices #4791 to #4799 requesting the board to accept and authorize the chair to initial. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Arnold seconded to accept notices #4791 to #4799 and <br /> authorize the chair to initial. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan <br /> and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 2. DISCUSS AND APPROVE LATE HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION FILED DURING THE <br /> 20 DAY EXTENSION - County Assessor Jan Pelland received one homestead <br /> application after June 30th. She read the letter from Barry Schultz, 4252 Vermont, <br /> Grand Island. He stated that he needed to have his doctor's signature on the <br /> application and he was gone did not return until July 1st Ms. Pelland stated that she <br /> has to reject the application but the County Board can over ride the rejection. <br /> This is the only application she has received this year. There generally are only 3 or 4. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Purdy seconded to override the rejection notice on the <br /> homestead exemption that was filed during the 20 day extension for Barry Schultz. <br /> Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and <br /> none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> NEW OR UNFINISHED BUSINESS — Chairman McFarland called for new or un <br /> finished business and no one responded. <br />
