HALL COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION MEETING JULY 29, 2014 9:05 a.m. Quandt made a motion and Ziola seconded to go into a Board of Equalization meeting. ROLL CALL VOTE — Present on roll call vote were Scott Arnold, Pamela Lancaster, Bob McFarland, Daniel Purdy, Gary Quandt, Steve Schuppan and David Ziola. Also present were Chief Deputy County Attorney Jack Zitterkopf, Board Assistant Stacey Ruzicka and County Assessor Jan Pelland. Chairman McFarland called the meeting to order. NOTICE OF OPEN MEETING LAW — Chairman McFarland read the notice of the open meeting law. MINUTES — Ziola made a motion and Quandt seconded to approve the minutes of the July 15 and July 21, 2014 meetings. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION - Chairman McFarland called for public participation and no one responded. 1. TAX LIST CORRECTIONS —County Assessor Jan Pelland presented tax correction notices #4791 to #4799 requesting the board to accept and authorize the chair to initial. Quandt made a motion and Arnold seconded to accept notices #4791 to #4799 and authorize the chair to initial. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. 2. DISCUSS AND APPROVE LATE HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION FILED DURING THE 20 DAY EXTENSION - County Assessor Jan Pelland received one homestead application after June 30th. She read the letter from Barry Schultz, 4252 Vermont, Grand Island. He stated that he needed to have his doctor's signature on the application and he was gone did not return until July 1st Ms. Pelland stated that she has to reject the application but the County Board can over ride the rejection. This is the only application she has received this year. There generally are only 3 or 4. Quandt made a motion and Purdy seconded to override the rejection notice on the homestead exemption that was filed during the 20 day extension for Barry Schultz. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. NEW OR UNFINISHED BUSINESS — Chairman McFarland called for new or un finished business and no one responded.
