LOEFFLER <br /> JERROD P.JAEGER MATTHEW A.WORKS <br /> October 15, 2018 <br /> Dear Members of the Board: <br /> I report to all of you about the juvenile cases as well as criminal cases. <br /> Juvenile Cases <br /> Since the Office of Juvenile Defense started to accept cases on August 1st through to October <br /> 15`h,ninety four cases were opened. This represents an average of thirty seven cases per month. <br /> Since we are halfway through the remaining portions of the year(August through December), I <br /> expect by calendar year's end about one hundred eighty cases opened between August to <br /> December 2018. <br /> Criminal Cases <br /> Starting on September 1, 2018 we no longer are withdrawing from every third felony. So far this <br /> calendar year 2018 (January through August),the Public Defender's Office withdrew from <br /> ninety seven felony cases. So far, the additional deputy position helped relieve the caseload <br /> pressure in the Office. <br /> I will appear before you in December, 2018 or January, 2019 to further update you.
