3. RECEIVE & PLACE ON FILE LETTER OF RETIREMENT FROM PEGGY PESEK HALL <br /> COUNTY TREASURER— Hall County Treasurer Peggy Pesek submitted her letter of retirement <br /> effective July 13, 2018. <br /> Lanfear made a motion and Arnold seconded to accept the letter of retirement with regret. <br /> Arnold, Bredthauer, Lancaster, Lanfear, Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes and <br /> none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> Ms. Pesek stated that this was a tough decision but she is submitting her letter of retirement. <br /> Her heart is with the county but it is time. She stated that she would like to recommend <br /> appointing Alaina Verplank as Treasurer. She has been working with her for the past year and <br /> she also helped with the budget last year and she will have her do it this year. She stated that <br /> she is not sure what the County Board intends to do, but she would like to have her appointed <br /> so Alaina can appoint a deputy. The deputy has a lot of responsibility. Peg stated she will <br /> always be available if she needs help. She has been here 35 years and she has a great staff. <br /> Ms. Richardson thanked Peg for her service and her expertise. She will be missed. <br /> Arnold stated she will be surprised how little she will miss Hall County. Peg stated her husband <br /> is anxious for her to retire. <br /> Lancaster stated she had the radio spot ton Monday and thanked Peg for her service. It will be <br /> a big turn over but it will be a smooth transition. The board would be foolish not to appoint <br /> Alaina she is the only person running for the office. She noted that if Alaina would select a <br /> deputy from the current office staff they could address the salary changes. There is still some <br /> time to address this. Peg stated that they want to start training soon. <br /> The vote on the motion to accept the letter from Peggy Pesek was taken. Arnold, Bredthauer, <br /> Lancaster, Lanfear, Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION —Chair Richardson called for public participation and no one <br /> responded. <br /> 5. KACEE ZIMMERMAN HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES - DISCUSS &APPROVE <br /> RESOLUTION FOR APRIL AS CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH - Kacee Zimmerman <br /> with the Association of Child Abuse Prevention was present she noted that they had a magic <br /> show to raise funds and will also have the "Love of Children Banquet" they will be sitting up the <br /> pinwheel garden on the corner of State Street and Webb Road. They also sold 690 bunches of <br /> daisies for the Daisy's for Diana. On April 24 they will hold a ceremony at the grave site of <br /> Diana Molina. They will also be honoring people at the banquet. <br /> Richardson noted that the tickets for the Love of children Banquet are $25.00. She thanked her <br /> for coming. <br /> Arnold noted that there volunteers also live through the experiences. They are all victims and it <br /> takes a special person to do that. <br /> 3 <br />
