They have been
working on how the city and county could work together to address the roads that are around
the exterior of the city. Some are the County's responsibility and some are the City's so they
looked at a map to find a way to connect the county snow routes. There is a table in the
agreement that outlines the roads that are the city's and the county's it also includes some
mowing of the same areas. The county would do the snow removal and it also provides for
additional aid if the city would need it. It is similar to the other snow removal contracts with
some of the other subdivisions. The county would initiate snow and ice removal according to the
county policy. Casey stated that the county has enough equipment to handle this.
He also stated that he would like to look at purchasing one 4 yard tuck. There are some
excellent used models that ae available for$40,000.00. He does have $50,000.00 in his budget
for other equipment that he could use. A full size truck would be about $200,000.00. This has
an underbody blade that helps with ice and snow removal. He looked at equipment to put on an
existing truck but that would cost in excess of$40,000.00. He is comfortable with the condition
of the used truck. The underbody plow is very useful and the plow they currently have is worn
out.
2
