Held a Board of Equalization meeting. <br /> 9:08 a.m. Adjourned the Board of Equalization meeting and returned to the regular meeting. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION --Chairman Lancaster called for public participation and no one <br /> responded. She welcomed Senator Dan Quick to the meeting. <br /> 11. DISCUSS AND APPROVE THE NOTICE AND TIMELINE OF APPLICATION FOR HALL <br /> COUNTY ELECTION COMMISSIONER - Lancaster reviewed the letter. The training period will <br /> be from hire date until December 31, 2017 and the new term will begin January 1, 2018. The <br /> salary for the training period will be approved by the Hall County Board. The salary for the full <br /> time election commissioner will be $75,178.46 with a 2% annual increase for the 4 year term. <br /> Stacey Ruzicka will be gone so Dale Baker will receive the applications and help to schedule <br /> the interviews. Interviews will start October 3, 2017. Discussion was held on the training period <br /> and it will be changed to start in mid-October. Scott Arnold is the chair of the committee and the <br /> committee will select 3 to 5 applications and arrange the interview times on the October 3 board <br /> meeting. <br /> It will be advertised twice in the Grand Island Independent on Workforce Development and with <br /> NACO. And letters sent to all election commissioners and clerks. It will also be posted on the <br /> web site. Dale suggested sending a letter to the Secretary of State and they could also <br /> distribute it. <br /> Lancaster will prepare a list of questions for the interviews. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Arnold seconded to approve the notice and time line for the <br /> applications for the election commissioner. Arnold, Bredthauer, Lancaster, Lanfear, Quandt, <br /> Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 12. DISCUSS AND APPROVE RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE SALARY FOR THE <br /> OFFICE OF HALL COUNTY ELECTION COMMISSIONER FOR THE TERM OF OFFICE <br /> COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 2018 - This position will be going from part time to full time, so it <br /> would change from 20 hours to 40 hours. Stacey also noted that there will be health insurance <br /> for the full time position. The election commissioner is appointed for a 4 year term. Dale Baker <br /> noted that the building is only open for 37 % hours and that is considered full time. Discussion <br /> was held and the hours will be deleted. Dale will stay until the Primary election is over and <br /> allow the new person to take the top spot. <br /> Arnold made a motion and Quandt seconded to approve Resolution #17-043 establishing the <br /> sala ry for the election commissioner with the proposed change regarding the work hours. <br /> Arnold, Bredthauer, Lancaster, Lanfear, Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes and <br /> none voted no.
