County Assessor/Register of Deeds Jan Pelland requested to address an issue under new or <br /> unfinished business. She stated that she met with Pam Lancaster as Chair of the County Board <br /> and informed her that she will be retiring December of 2017. She stated that it is time for her <br /> and her husband to move to a warmer climate because of his health. She will get the office <br /> through the major milestones this year. The protests, certification and the tax rolls and she will <br /> have the tax statements done before she leaves in December 19, 2017. She may leave earlier <br /> if the winter is bad. She stated she started in October 1976. <br /> Lancaster stated that they will come back in 30 days with a time line on the process to fill the <br /> position. November will be a busy month. Jan stated that she told her staff this morning. There <br /> is some interest from 2 of her staff that may take the certification test. She also stated that Barb <br /> Stoddard will also be retiring. She is originally from the western part of the state and they have <br /> purchased a home in Gering and will also be moving, even with her health issue she has <br /> continued to work. <br /> Lancaster stated that it will be more difficult with the deputy also leaving but she is glad to hear <br /> that someone from the staff is interested. The board would be appointing the assessor and the <br /> assessor would choose a deputy. <br /> Arnold stated that he recently retired and she will be surprised how little you will miss the job. <br /> Quandt thanked her for her service and she has been very professional. He appreciated that <br /> she is working toward a smooth transition. Jan stated that they have already started the 2018 <br /> work. <br /> 16 DISCUSS &APPROVE RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING PETTY CASH FUND FOR THE <br /> HALL COUNTY BUILDING INSPECTOR -Alan Pickrel stated that they have requested the <br /> petty cash fund because they have applicants pay with cash and they need to make change. <br /> The petty cash will enable them to keep track of the collections. <br /> Arnold made a motion and Lanfear seconded to approve Resolution #17-014 for the petty cash <br /> fund for the building inspector. Arnold, Bredthauer, Lancaster, Lanfear, Quandt, Richardson <br /> and Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> Board assistant Stacey Ruzicka stated that he will need to process a claim from his budget for <br /> the $200.00 for the petty cash. A check will be processed and then he can cash the check. <br /> 3 <br />
