Paul Grabowski 315 East Oklahoma PO Box 314 stated he was pleased the City and County <br /> are getting involved and suggested contacting the legislature and the governor he is opposed <br /> LeRoy Wood stated he is for moving the post office he expressed concern on Old Potash Hwy <br /> you need to see where there can be a substation. He expressed concern that there isn't <br /> parking downtown you do TIF projects to bring in more people but do not address parking you <br /> need to negotiate where to put the substation and this may be an opportunity to get Hwy#281 <br /> redone you need 5 lanes on Potash <br /> It was noted that there are 13 parking lots down town. <br /> Evelyn Brown 4027 West Capitol Avenue questioned if they would keep the substation on Webb <br /> Road. She is opposed. It was noted that there are no other plans in the project <br /> Arnold looked at an aerial photo noted that there ae 13 parking space and they are all filled. <br /> Lanfear stated that when lease comes up for the substation it would be within 1 mile to the <br /> Potash Road location and so it could be closed <br /> Brian Whitecalf 116 East 8th Street attended the libray meeting he wrote a letter to editor, he <br /> expressed concern that more people could not attend and no one could speak. There was no <br /> mention to move the Webb Road substation. The post office is on leased land from the railroad <br /> and it cost them $50,000.00 to lease it they need to find a location downtown. He has a has a <br /> signature page and he passed it around to the people downtown we need to help to find a <br /> 9 p 9 p p. <br /> location downtown he encourage people to sign and send letters as soon as possible <br /> Lancaster expressed concern on the short turn around and today was the only way to provide <br /> this forum there was not time to advertise for another day. The letters will need to be mailed by <br /> Friday. <br /> Eldon Kokes stated there is too much traffic at most of the intersections on Hwy#281 and the <br /> wait time would be longer now people can walk or ride to the downtown location. <br /> Tom Enck 1603 Taylor stated that he uses both facilities 5 or 6 times a week and you need to <br /> look at it from the post offices point of view you have 2 underused facilities and there are 35 <br /> people in the downtown location when there used to be 100 and only 40% of the boxes are <br /> rented you need to look at a substation he expressed concern on the traffic on Potash there <br /> needs to be turning lanes <br /> Lancaster ask people to sign if they wanted too <br /> #12 Mike Paulick stated he sent a letter and E mailed Congressman Smith they need the mail <br /> services down town it would be a hardship on people. He also expressed concern on the traffic <br /> on Potash. <br /> Lancaster expressed concern on the lines at the post office and noted they will still need staff to <br /> process the mail. It is vital for Grand Island to retain the location. <br /> 13. DISCUSS AND APPROVE SENDING LETTER PROTESTING RELOCATION OF US POST <br /> OFFICE BUILDING IN DOWNTOWN GRAND ISLAND— Lanfear stated he wants to take a <br /> stand and send a letter from the board. The Post office has 2 buildings that are half empty and <br /> 8 <br />
