ADDENDUMS#1 REGARDING ANIMAL ADVISORY BOARD - Nancy stated that there were
come concerns the last time from the rural area. This animal advisory board will allow verbal
input from the public and will be part of the process. It could also allow diverting some of the
smaller issues out of the court system and also gives a mechanism to deal with some of the
dangerous animal issues.
Lanfear questioned what the liability the county would have if there was not proper action and
there could be some liability.
Schuppan expressed concern on the advisory board.
Arnold stated there should be law enforcement and the humane society on the advisory board
but it is important to address who is appointed.
Lancaster suggested that it should be someone from the rural area.
Arnold read the list of suggested board members, 1 veterinarian, 3 representatives from the
community at large appointed by the Board Chair, a member of the County Board of
Supervisors, the Sheriff or designee, the director of the Animal Control Authority or designee,
the director of the department of health or designee and the County Attorney or his designee.
Ms. Dethloff stated that the board will give them the opportunity to discuss issues and how to
move forward on them.
Lancaster made a motion and Lanfear seconded to approve Addendum #1 Resolution#16-070.
Schuppan expressed concern that 9 members may be to many. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear,
Purdy, Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried.
8
