The vote on the motion to allow hiring another deputy was taken. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, <br /> Purdy, Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> Sheriff Watson offered to help the board on background checks if the board needs information <br /> for the hiring a new director. <br /> 16. APPROVE BI WEEKLY PAY CLAIMS AND REGULAR CLAIMS—County Clerk Marla <br /> Conley explained that the claim for E911 was reduced because there were not enough funds in <br /> the account so the claim had to be reduced. Once the funds are deposited then they will make <br /> up the additional funding owed to them. <br /> Schuppan made a motion and Lanfear seconded to approve the biweekly pay claims and the <br /> regular claims. Arnold. Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted <br /> yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> COMMITTEE OR BOARD MEMBER REPORTS—Chairman Arnold called for committee <br /> reports. <br /> Richardson reported CASA will be having a "Design & Deserts" fund raiser and you can buy <br /> tickets. She also explained her vote on the motion to approve the conditional use permit was in <br /> error she voted no on the amended permit and yes on allowing the permit as presented. She did <br /> not intend to switch her vote. <br /> Lanfear reported that the sergeants on the Sheriff's office are asking to join the union and this <br /> may be on the agenda at some time. There would be a new union contract. They would come <br /> to the board and also to the CIR. <br /> Purdy reported that he attended the NIRMA Conference and attendance was up at 260. Mr. <br /> Zitterkopf received a special recognition award for his exceptional efforts in loss prevention and <br /> for providing legal counsel. Jack stated he has not ever recognized but it is nice to be <br /> recognized for doing his job. <br /> No other reports. <br /> BOARD ASSISTANT'S REPORT- Stacey stated she did not have a report. <br /> 22 FACILITIES AGENDA <br /> a. Public defender update -Jerry Piccolo stated he looked at the federal building and <br /> expressed concern on security on the second floor and it would need to be remodeled. It would <br /> be difficult to separate the main hallway to secure it and you would not be able to control the <br /> flow of people. The first floor did not have as many problems and you could make separate <br /> offices but the remodeling could be expensive. He is not interested in moving to the federal <br /> building. <br /> Lanfear asked if they looked at the safety center and he stated they did. It is just open space <br /> and would involve remodeling. They have a good plan in his building. Lanfear stated that the <br /> county owns the safety center building. <br /> Lancaster and Richardson are working on the application for the federal building and they <br /> wanted to have Jerry look at it. Jerry stated that Doone knows what he needs he wants to stay <br /> where he is and move forward with the plans. <br /> 12 <br />
