Held a Board of Equalization meeting <br /> 9:21 A.M. Adjourned the Board of Equalization meeting and returned to the regular meeting. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION - Joe Black Executive Director of Stuhr Museum stated that he was <br /> asked by Mr. Quandt for a copy of the picture of Stuhr Museum and he also noted that in the <br /> publication True West they were named one of the top 10 places to see. Discussion was held <br /> and it will be placed in the board room. <br /> Chairman Arnold called for any other discussion and no one responded. <br /> 4. DISCUSS & APPROVE RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE UNITED VETERANS CLUB <br /> RETAINING ADJACENT LEASED LAND— Lancaster stated that this issue came forward and <br /> Mike Ponte and Richard Catron were present. They explained that this is a small strip of land <br /> from Capital Avenue to Highway 2 that they have had a 99 year lease on and they have <br /> invested half a million dollars in the development of this land. There are the ball fields, parking <br /> lot and the handicapped access into the club and the garbage pickup is also at the back. They <br /> have concerns if the home is moved what might happen and it is important that this land be <br /> deeded to them. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Lancaster seconded to approve Resolution #15-041 supporting the <br /> State of Nebraska transfer ownership of the land to the United Veterans Club of Grand Island, <br /> Nebraska. <br /> Mr. Catron read the list of letters of support and stated that he has talked to three governors and <br /> they stated they could have the land but there has not been any action to transfer it. He stated <br /> that this may not be a priority but there could be the potential to lose the lease. <br /> Lancaster stated that this is a formal request to the state there is a board that actually addresses these <br /> issue. <br /> Mr. Purdy stated that there is a new administration and he hope they will get this done. <br /> Chairman Arnold asked if anyone else would like to speak and Jay Vavrick stated that this ground has <br /> become part of their stewardship and they are asking or support. <br /> The vote on the motion was taken Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt, Richardson and <br /> Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no.
