2 <br /> 9:05 a.m. Held a Board of Equalization <br /> 9:09 a.m. Returned to the regular meeting. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION — Lancaster stated that she received a call regarding issues with <br /> Platte River Drive and she contacted Mr. Schuppan and Casey Sherlock. She informed the <br /> callers that they could address this under public participation. <br /> Leroy Weavers read a statement regarding the lack of maintenance and concerns on Platte <br /> River Drive. This road has deteriorated. He stated that he had talked to Darrel Johnson and <br /> Casey Sherlock regarding this. <br /> Anita Mitchell 13550 West Platte River Road read a statement expressed concern on the fact <br /> that there are not ditches on the road and questioned if deeper ditches would help. She also <br /> stated that the road has gotten worse. <br /> Schuppan noted that area by Lilley sandpit is low and there are no ditches and there is a <br /> concern on the gravel on the road and this year the rain is an issue. <br /> Mr. Weavers also expressed concern on the maintenance of the road, concern on the school <br /> bus traffic. He also stated that all of the water from the fields comes across the road. <br /> Schuppan stated he appreciates the comments and to contact him with their concerns, <br /> Chad Wagner Kennesaw expressed concern regarding the equipment and how it is operated. <br /> He noted that there are washboards on the road that make it unsafe. <br /> Ricky 1637 West Denman Road expressed concern on the gravel on the road that has been <br /> pushed into the ditches the maintenance needs to be done more often <br /> The also expressed concern on the snow removal and concern on the school buses <br /> Chairman Arnold called for other public participation and no one responded. <br /> Quandt stated that the roads are important to the rural people and he would like to have Casey <br /> Sherlock present. <br /> 9:30 a.m. Held a Board of Corrections meeting <br /> 9:42 a.m. Adjourned the Board of Corrections meeting and returned to the regular meeting <br /> COUNTY- County Attorney Jack Zitterkopf stated he did not have any items on the agenda but <br /> stated that they applied for an extension for the juvenile services grant. <br /> 7. SHARON HUEFTLE SOUTH CENTRAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT UPDATE - Sharon <br /> Hueftle stated that she was not able to attend the meeting in April. She distributed information <br /> to the board members. They are an extension of local government and she read their mission <br /> statement. They are members of the Nebraska Regional office and they are asking that Howard <br /> County be part of this district. They have a 5 year plan in place. She reviewed the membership, <br /> grants and awards. They have been recently working with Wood River on some programs. She <br />
