cost. Discussion was held to pay back the inheritance fund and they could transfer any
remaining funds in miscellaneous general to inheritance and also the building rental funds of
$47,000.00 for probation could also be transferred. Then there could be the budget transfer of
$250,000.00 for the repayment of the loan. The committee felt that 3 years would be
reasonable. There are also dollars in the reserve fund that could be used.
Ms. Lancaster stated that she would like to see a resolution prepared it would leave a definite
trail and make it clear. The plans for the Courthouse will exceed the estimates and the
probation office may need some renovations and there will renovations to the Plaza Building
and also phones computers furnishings and also the demolition of the 2 other buildings. These
expenditures are necessary but the end result will be more than what they know today.
Mr. Schuppan noted that there are extra dollars in the building and land reserve fund and those
dollars stay in that fund so there may be other dollars available and some project may take
priority over others. He expressed concern about being tied down with a resolution. Mr. Purdy
stated that there are other issues coming up.
Lancaster made a motion and Arnold seconded to put together a resolution that outlines a plan
to pay back the inheritance fund over 3 years at $250,000.00 a year for the purchase of the
plaza building and the two houses and use the current line item for building needs.
Quandt expressed concern that he wants a resolution that the county board can follow.
Arnold noted this is committing the board to have this in the budget again next year.
The vote on the motion was taken. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland and Ziola all voted yes and
Purdy, Quandt and Schuppan voted no. Motion carried.
19B RECOMMENDATION OF OFFICES TO MOVE TO THE PLAZA CENTER The facilities
committee recommended to move the public defender and juvenile diversion to the plaza
building. They will need to move some walls and change some doors and install a sink. They
are recommending hiring a contractor to get the work done as quickly as possible.
Schuppan made a motion and Quandt seconded to approve the recommendation to move the
public defender and juvenile diversion to the plaza building. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland,
Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried.
Lancaster noted that the passport office is in the probation building and also that the GIS
department is in need of space. There are other spaces available but there is not a definite
plan.
Mr. uandt thanked Pam Lancaster, Bob McFarland and Don Shuda for their work on the hero
Q
flight.
They also thanked Casey Sherlock for the tire collection program. This helps the county roads
but the furniture is still collecting.
Mr. Humphrey stated that he has the floor plan for the plaza building and they want to keep the
public areas the same. This is the time to complete it and they want to use neutral colors.
Discussion was held to use good modular furniture and keep everything the same. He showed
a copy of the floor plan.
6
