<br />Motion by Wright, seconded by Frauen to accept committee report to hire
<br />someone to plant flowers at the County Park. On roll call vote Abernethy,
<br />Frauen, Leslie, Quandt, and Wright voted yes, Landis voted no, with Hartman
<br />absent. Motion carried.

<br />Quandt reported on Parks Committee meeting and he attended the Building &
<br />Grounds Committee meeting
<br />
<br />Wright reported he attended the Parks Committee meeting. He also made brief
<br />report on behalf of Hartman stating the Mid Nebraska Services have finished
<br />the organization plans on a central board. The catchment area includes Hall
<br />Merrick, Hamilton & Howard counties.
<br />
<br />Ellen Merrill, County Board Assistant reported the C6unty Assessor had
<br />requested the use of county car to be used on rural property reappraisal.
<br />Board Members requested Ellen to meet with Jan and recommend to the Board
<br />how to handle the use of county car. Ellen requested permission to be
<br />absent from her office on May 14, 1992 to attend a NIRMA workshop to be
<br />held in Kearney, Nebraska.

<br />Dan Hostler, Public Works Director had gave Chairman copy of letter from
<br />State of Nebraska Department of Roads in regard to the traffic conditions
<br />on Engleman Road and Wildwood Drive near the Cedar Hollow School and does
<br />not warrant a change in speed zone.
<br />Motion by Abernethy, seconded by Quandt to receive letter and place on
<br />file. On roll call vote Abernethy, Frauen, Leslie, Quandt, Wright and Landis
<br />voted yes, none voted no, with Hartman absent. Motion Carried. However
<br />Landis wanted record to show she was against the report recommendation.

<br />Quandt brought for discussion the parking situation at the Administration
<br />building. Discussed the possiblity of 1 hour parking signs be placed
<br />around the island in parking lot, with no county employees to park there.
<br />Motion by Quandt, seconded by Frauen to refer to Building & Grounds
<br />committee to determine a recommendation. On roll call vote Abernethy,
<br />Frauen, Leslie, Quandt, Wright and Landis voted yes, none voted-no, with
<br />Hartman absent. Motion carried.

<br />Don Hostler, Public Works Director requested authorization to conduct a
<br />speed test on Seedling Mile Road and explained the reason for the request.
<br />Motion by Frauen, seconded by Quandt to authorize Dan to request a
<br />speed test be conducted on Seedling Mile Road. On roll call vote Abernethy,
<br />Frauen, Leslie, Quandt, Wright and Landis voted yes, none voted no. Motion
<br />carried.

<br />Supervisor Leslie asked the board to consider drafting a letter to State
<br />Department of Roads, copy to be sent to Grand Island Daily Independent letter
<br />to Editor in regard to Highway #281 improvements and support of St Paul's
<br />request.
<br />Motion by Leslie, seconded by Quandt, to request Dan & Ellen to draft
<br />a letter to State Department of Roads on 'the' Highway 281 improvements and
<br />authorize Chairman Landis to sign the letter. On roll call vote Abernethy,
<br />Frauen, Leslie, Quandt, Wright and Landis voted yes, none voted no, with
<br />Hartman absent. Motion carried.
<br />
<br />Chairman Landis asked Hostler _:t:o_br~efly explain the one year road program
<br />that is proposed. He also briefly :explained the additions to the six year
<br />road program.
<br />
<br />Chairman adjourned the meeting at 3:31 P.M.
