<br />9}'~-3t;1~ <br /> <br />Joel Dalton reported of two major problems, one is the request of <br />~ Alic Mahood concerning a court room. He recommended to move Family <br />Violence Coalition temporarily into the Administration Building. That <br />would free up the offices on the lower floor of the courthouse that <br />~ can be made into a court room. The most overcrowded office building <br />is the County Attorneys building. He urged the move of Probation office <br />into the Childrens Village, but because of changes needed to accommodate <br />them, to wait until the lst of June. His recommendation to the Board <br />would be to let the ones wanting it for a homeless shelter use it thru <br />May with a contract, but not on a permanent basis. Dalton recommended <br />to take care of the court room in January, with the County School Supt. <br />being empty. Discussion followed. <br /> <br />---- --~ ---=-- <br /> <br />Diane Johnson voiced concerns of having a homeless shelter in the <br />Childrens Village building. She lives in the neighborhood and opposes it. <br /> <br />A public hearing for interested people concerned about the use of <br />Childrens Village was set for Thursday, November 17, 1994 at 7 P.M. <br /> <br />Korean Veteran, Bill Yost Chairman of the 8th Annual Veterans Convention, <br />requested the apporval of a flag pole installation on the west side of the <br />Administration Building. He distributed diagram and description of the <br />pole which the Korean Veterans would purchase and ask that County Bldg <br />& Grounds department would install and place an electrical light so that <br />the flag could fly 24 hours a day. Stelk made motion, seconded by Quandt <br />to approve the placement of the flag pole with Building & Grounds Dept. <br />help with the installation and lights and the county to provide the flag <br />when needed. Abernethy, Frauen, Hartman, Landis, Leslie, Quandt and <br />Stelk voted yes, none voted no. <br /> <br />Susan Stuckert and Ethel Rasmussen, Social Services Representatives, <br />told the Board of needs in assisting clients. With the contract not <br />approved, they needed some guidelines. The contract was sent to the <br />Attorneys earlier. Motion made by Landis, seconded by Stelk to put into <br />the contract that aliens must have documentation in order to have <br />assistance. Abernethy, Hartman, Landis, Quandt and Stelk voted yes, <br />Leslie voted no, Frauen was absent. <br /> <br />Hartman agreed to get with Jerry Janulewicz and have the Social Service <br />contract put on the agenda for November 22nd at 11:00 A.M. <br /> <br />Rasmussen asked about assistance with a case concerning the clients <br />hospital bill. The Board member indicated they would like the person <br />to look into making payments or arrangements with.the.hospital.- <br />Rasmussen agreed to check on it. <br /> <br />Motion made by Landis, seconded by Quandt to continue to obtain <br />officials bonds locally. Abernethy, Hartman, Landis, Leslie, Quandt <br />andStelk voted yes,. none voted no. . <br /> <br />BOARD REPORTS <br />Abernethy - College Park and Midland Area on Aging <br />Quandt - Industrial Foundation long range planni~g <br />Stelk - Midland Area on Aging <br />Landis - Industrial Foundation long range planning <br />Leslie - Medical group meeting & video cameras for courthouse <br /> <br />Stelk made motion, seconded by Abernethy to buy desk needed in courthouse <br />for monitor in the amount of $800. Abernethy, Hartman, Landis, Leslie <br />and Stelk voted yes, Quandt voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Board Assistant, Ellen Merrill, reported $3668 collected for United Way. <br />NIRMA will be offering a free defensive driving seminar from 1 - 5 P.M. <br />on November 28th at the Roads Department shop, 53 participates have signed <br />up so far. Will do different ones for the Sheriffs department as the have <br />three different shifts. Ellen asked if any of the Board members wanted <br />to take advantage of this. Ellen stated that she is still getting names <br />for the Bank of Volunteers, and if she should send them a letter explain~ <br />ing when the next opening is and the length of the term and the duties <br />of ea:ch.board they are interested in. Ellen has 12 names and some of them <br />have signed up for several boards. She was told to send this information <br />out. <br /> <br />Discussed the list of departments that they would like to have appear <br />before the Board from time to time. The Clerks office will contact & <br />schedule each department time on the agenda. <br />
