<br />Dan Hostler, Public Works Director spoke in regard to the notice of sale of
<br />property in Wood River, near the County Shed which they use for parking equip-
<br />ment, which City of Wood River plans to sell with minimum bid of $10,000.00
<br />Hostler requested the board members to research the purchase of the property.
<br />Motion by Quandt, seconded by Stelk to refer to Public Works Committee for
<br />recommendation. Abernethy, Hartman, Landis, Leslie, Quandt and Stelk voted
<br />yes, none voted no, with Frauen absent. Motion carried.

<br />Ellen Merrill, County Board Assistant gave weekly update report. Industrial
<br />Foundation Meeting, tomorrow at noon. (Landis will attend). (2) She stated
<br />has prepared news release about closing of County Park on July 31 for County
<br />employees picnic and 4x2 ad in Grand Island Independent will cost $34.68
<br />Motion by Stelk, seconded by Quandt to authorize Board Assistant to place
<br />ad in Independent, and release to news media, letting the public know the
<br />County Park will be closed July 31, 1994 til 3:00 p.m, for picnic. Hartman,
<br />Landis, Leslie, Quandt and Stelk voted yes, Abernethy voted no, with Frauen
<br />absent. Motion carried.

<br />Other information provided by Assistant was (3) the County option to buy the
<br />old City Hall Building is on City Council agenda for Monday, July 25, and
<br />some':board member should plan to attend (4) Madison County Public Defender's
<br />office report is on file in her office. (5) Should copy of proposed budget be
<br />sent to McDermott & Miller for review (board members didn't think this was
<br />necessary) (6) Superintendent of Schools Colman, reported his wife has been
<br />filling in for his office girl, yil1o___I1_~_snha~surgery and plans to return on
<br />August 1st. (7) Nebraska EqU9.lQ2portuni ty_Commission has requested use of
<br />County Board room on September 8th-~th trom 9:00 a.m. til 5:00 p.m. for
<br />hearings.

<br />Opportunity Commission to hold hearings in County Board room on September
<br />8th & 9th as requested. Abernethy, Hartman, Landis, Leslie, Quandt and
<br />Stelk voted yes, none voted no, with Frauen absent. Motion carried.

<br />County Assessor Jan Pelland was called to Board meeting to discuss the show
<br />cause hearings in Kearney next week. Landis and Stelk will attend the
