<br />95F- 155 <br /> <br />12:10 A.M. Meeting was recessed. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />1:15 P.M. Returned to regular session. <br /> <br />Resolution #1653 was passed to board members for signatures. <br />Discussion was held on the importance of persuing this year. <br /> <br />Hartman made motion and Rosenkotter seconded to accept and place <br />on file the lebters from John Wagoner and Monica McGuire. Abernethy, <br />Hartman, Landis, Leslie, Quandt, Rosenkotter and Stelk all voted yes <br />and none voted no. If the protests were not filed on time the County <br />Board does not have any jurisciction to accept them. If it is not <br />a timely filing they can appeal this to district court. Quandt made <br />motion to refer John Wagoner's and Monica McGuire's letters to the <br />Deputy County Attorney Jerry Janulewicz. Abernethy, Hartman, Landis, <br />Leslie, Quandt, Rosenkotter and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. <br /> <br />Quandt discussed with the board a problem of unhappy customers at the <br />motor vehicle department and their abusive language. This matter <br />should be referred to the department supervisors and officials. <br /> <br />Quandt discussed the editorials in the Grand Island Independent. <br />Quandt made motion to sent a letter to Trudy Treu asking what the <br />problem was. No second, motion failed. <br /> <br />Rosenkotter presented an explanation on incentive budgeting to the <br />board members. They discussed implementing this in the upcoming <br />budget but the board felt they needed more time to work on this. <br /> <br />The changes to the budget letter were discussed and board members <br />presented their ideas. The following suggestions were addressed: <br />Maintain the $30,000.00 in special fund for repairs <br />Add statem~nt on salaries needs to retroactive to <br />July 1, 1995. <br />Step raises were discussed. They need to meet with county <br />officials. A personal meeting is May 18, at 10:00 A.M. <br />this needs to be discussed. <br />These changes will be incorporated in the budget letter. <br /> <br />Discussion on the televising of the county board meetings was held. <br />Various proposals were presented. Stelk made motion and Hartman <br />seconded to have the board meetings televised for the next budget year. <br />Discussion followed,this needs more study. Stelk and Hartman with- <br />drew motion and second. Quandt made motion and Hartman seconded <br />to study televising county board and other county related meetings <br />and the cost. Abernethy, Hartman, Leslie, Quandt, Rosenkotter~nd <br />Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. Landis was absent!~-atf.endinfg <br />another meeting. <br /> <br />BOARD MEMBERS REPORTS <br /> <br />Stelk - Midland Area on Aging, Criminal Justice meeting.in Eegards <br />to contracts with villaqes and the second tier public defender. The Trans- <br />portation"Committee" is. doing a comprehensive transportation plan and <br />- . <br />a conferance call with Federal Transpo~ion Department concerning <br />STP Funds. Also attended Library Board meeting. <br /> <br />Abernethy - Attended Head Start, Central Community College and <br />College Park meeting, Criminal Justice Committee meeting, D.A.R.E. <br />graduation and Sonna Holmes retirement. <br /> <br />Rosenkotter - Head Start meeting, NRD meeting, Transporation Committee <br />meeting, Mid Nebrasaka Area on Aging, Public Works Committee. She <br />shared information on Head Start and the children that are underfed. <br /> <br />Landis - Reported on the scope of work meeting. The Reuse Committee <br />will be attending the meeting in Indiana. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS" <br /> <br />The board signed the proclamation for the Convention and Visitors <br />Bureau. <br />
