Motion carried. <br />RE;OLUTION #~ <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Central Platte Natural Resources District, the <br />City of Grand Island, and the counties of Merrick and Hall are <br />the co-sponsors of the Lower Wood River/Upper Warm Slough Flood <br />Control Project; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in November 1988 said co-sponsors signed a <br />feasibility study agreement with the United States Army Corps of <br />Engineers which study was completed in April 1993; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the recommended plan for said flood control project <br />would provide flood protection for one thousand, seven hundred <br />and fifty-five (1,755) structures in the City of Grand Island, <br />numerous suburban dwellings, public facilities and utilities and <br />protect over 5,000 acres of irrigated cropland in rural Hall and <br />Merrick counties; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the recommended plan has a benefit-cost ratio of <br />2:1 to 1:0; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the co-sponsors' original plan of project <br />activities called for construction to commence January 13, 1993, <br />and project completion June 9, 1995; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, both a project authorization and an appropriation <br />for construction is needed this year to prevent further costly <br />delays. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Congress of the <br />United States is urged to adopt an authorization for said project <br />and to appropriate $577,600.00 for the construction of said <br />project in early 1995. <br /> <br />Passed and adopted this 14th day of February, 1995. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> <br />BY: <br /> <br />Richard Hartman voted NO <br /> <br />Ma <br /> <br />Deputy County Clerk <br />Countv Clerk <br />
