<br />Motion by Leslie, seconded by Abernethy to approve payment of all claims
<br />audited, except claim denied by Joel Dalton to G.I. Radiology $23.00 due
<br />to past 90 day filing deadline, Abernethy, Landis, Leslie, Long, Quandt
<br />and Stelk voted yes, none voted no, with Hartman absent. Motion carried.
<br />
<br />COMMUNICATIONS:
<br />Chair Stelk requested copy of letter from Central Platte Natural Resources
<br />District and from Representative Bill Barrett in regard to the treated water
<br />from Cornhusker Army ammunition Plant into Silver Creek, be sent to Merrick
<br />County Board of Supervisors, Mader family, Tom Baxter and Judy Arends and
<br />those who has expressed interest to the County Board in this project.
<br />Abernethy questioned the letter received from State of Nebraska Department
<br />of Roads in regard to the raised speed limits on two-lane state highways.
<br />
<br />Motion by Abernethy, seconded by Long to accept and place on file the
<br />communications received todaT. Abernethy, Landis, Leslie, Long, Quandt
<br />and Stelk voted yes, none voted no, with Hartman absent. Motion carried.
<br />
<br />BOARD OF EQUALIZATION MEETING: Motion by Quandt, seconded by Leslie to
<br />go into Board of Equalization. Abernethy, Landis, Leslie, Long, Quandt and
<br />Stelk voted yes, none voted no, with Hartman absent. Motion carried.
<br />
<br />BOARD OF EQUALIZATION at 2:02 P.M. and returned to regular Board of Super-
<br />visor meeting at 2:05 p.m.

<br />COUNTY BO~RD ASSISTANT REPORT: Ellen Merrill gave weekly progress report.
<br />She reminded the board members she need the evaluation forms back. She
<br />requested one half day vacation, Thursday afternoon and at the Elected and
<br />Appointed officials meeting they recommended chicken for the County picnic.
<br />Since Board members were paying for the meat, asked if this met with their
<br />approval.
<br />
<br />COUNTY BOARD MEMBERS AND COMMITTEE REPORTS:

<br />Quandt - Has Midland Area Agency on Aging meeting Thurdsay.
<br />
<br />Landis - Attended CNCS meeting in Loup City, Had Audit Committee meeting
<br />and placed report on agenda for next week's meeting. Have a ReUse
<br />Committee meeting tomorrow at 12:00 noon.
<br />
<br />Long - has Midland Area Agency on Aging meeting on Thursday, plans to attend.
<br />Had attended a Central Community College meeting in Kearney last
<br />week and since Abernethy also attended, she would make report.
<br />
<br />Abernethy: Attended the Central Community College meeting in Kearney, Had
<br />Board reports for each member and had reviewed various topics on the
<br />three campus. Attended a meeting on Assessment for Juvenile Services,
<br />Head Start Policy Board meeting (Mr. Long also attended) Will have
<br />video conference on juvenile problems if wished to review.

<br />Stelk Attended GIS Meeting (Leslie was also present) Plans to attend
<br />the Midland Area Agency on Agency meeting on Thursday.
<br />
<br />Landis - reported on the needs assessment Juvenile Service meeting, she had
<br />taken notes and would share with members later. She requested a
<br />letter be sent to State requesting additional probation officer for
<br />Hall County.
<br />
<br />TAX CORRECTION NOTICES: Jan Pelland, County Assessor presented tax correct-
<br />ion notices #1383 to #1393 for approval and chair to initial.
<br />Motion by Quandt, seconded by Long to authorize chair to sign Tax Correct-
<br />ion notices #1383 to #1393. Abernethy, Landis, Leslie, Long, Quandt and
<br />Stelk voted yes, none voted no, with Hartman absent. Motion carried.

<br />RECESSED: Chair Stelk recessed the meeting at 2:17 p.m. until Friday, August
<br />30th at 8:00 a.m. for Executive Session to discuss negotiations for the Public
<br />Defender Organization.

<br />
<br />CALL TO ORDER - Meeting was called to order at 8:25 a.m. by Chair Tammie Stelk.
<br />PRESENT: Were Irene Abernethy, Richard Hartman, Margaret Landis, Robert Leslie,
<br />and Tammie Stelk. Absent was Huey Long and Gary Quandt.
<br />Quandt arrived at meeting at 9:23 a.m.
<br />EXECUTIVE SESSION- Motion by Landis, seconded by Leslie to hold Executive
<br />Session with Deputy Attorneys Jerom Janulewicz and Mark Young in regard to
<br />negotiations for Public Defender Organization. Abernethy, Hartman, Landis,
<br />Leslie and Stelk voted yes, none voted no, with Long and Quandt absent.
