<br />PRISON SURVEY: John Amick of Doniphan, met with the Board
<br />regarding a survey, and to discuss questions concerning a poll.
<br />Hartman wanted to know if they would specifically ask people if
<br />they would support a prison if it would mean an increase in
<br />taxes. A motion was made by Hartman and seconded by Lancaster to
<br />approve the survey, with the assigned questions and to authorize
<br />Chairman Long to sign a contract with the phone company in regard
<br />to the cost of this survey. After contingent approval of the
<br />County Attorney, the funds will be disbursed from Miscellaneous
<br />General, Miscellaneous Funds 0100-970-2-9900. Abernethy,
<br />Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt, and Stelk all voted
<br />yes, and none voted no. Motion carried.

<br />2:00 p.m. Motion for an executive session was made by Stelk,
<br />seconded by Landis, Abernethy, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt
<br />and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no, with Hartman, absent.
<br />Motion carried.

<br />2:30 p.m. Hartman made a motion and Abernethy seconded to go out
<br />of executive session. Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis,
<br />Long, Quandt, and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. Motion
<br />carried.

<br />APPOINTMENT OF REGISTER OF DEEDS: Motion was made by Stelk and
<br />seconded by Lancaster on behalf of the Personnel Committee to
<br />recommend Janis Roberts as the Register of Deeds effective
<br />October 31, 1997. Abernethy, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt, and
<br />Stelk voted yes and Hartman abstained. Motion carried.

<br />NIRMA CLAIM: An emergency item to be added to the monthly claims
<br />Motion was made by Stelk, seconded by Abernethy. Abernethy,
<br />Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt, and Stelk all voted yes
<br />and none voted no. Motion carried.
<br />
<br />AUDIT COMMITTEE REPORT: The report was read and the motion was
<br />made by Abernethy and seconded by Stelk to accept the Committee
<br />report. Abernethy, Hartman, Landis, Long, Quandt, and Stelk,
<br />voted yes, none voted no. Motion carried.
<br />
<br />COMMENCE AUDIT OF MONTHLY CLAIMS: Motion to accept the monthly
<br />claims except one, was made by Stelk and seconded by Landis.
<br />Abernethy, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt, and Stelk, all voted
<br />yes, Hartman absent.
<br />Motion carried.
