<br />97;-~g~ <br /> <br />. , <br /> <br />i <br /> <br />HALL COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING AUGUST 26,1997 <br /> <br />The Hall County Board of Supervisors met from adjourned session <br />and by published call August 26, 1997, at 9:00 a.m. in the County <br />Board meeting room, 121 South Pine, Grand Island, Nebraska. <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Chairman Huey <br />Long. <br /> <br />INVOCATION: Invocation was given by Pastor Schutte with Grace <br />Lutheran Church. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL: Present on roll call were Irene Abernethy, Margaret <br />Landis, Huey Long, Gary Quandt and Tammie Stelk. Richard Hartman <br />and Pamela Lancaster were absent. Also present were Deputy County <br />Attorney Jerry Janulewicz and news media representatives from <br />KRGI and the Grand Island Independent. <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE AUGUST 19 MEETING: Quandt made a motion and <br />Abernethy seconded to accept and place on file the minutes of the <br />August 19 meeting. Abernethy requested that a correction be <br />added to a committee name she is a member of. Abernethy, Landis, <br />Long, Quandt and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no, with <br />Hartman and Lancaster absent. Motion carried. <br /> <br />COUNTY ATTORNEY: Deputy County Attorney Jerry Janulewicz stated <br />that a tort claim from Corey Vannest was received. He <br />recommended that the claim be tabled until it has been reviewed <br />by the insurance company. Quandt made a motion and Abernethy <br />seconded to table the tort claim for Corey Vannest. Abernethy, <br />Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no <br />with Hartman and Lancaster absent. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Janulewicz stated that he had addressed the item on the agenda <br />concerning the boiler repair several weeks ago and Rick Stepanek <br />with Building and Grounds would review the informal bids with the <br />board. <br /> <br />AGREEMENT CONCERNING NEBRASKA HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES SYSTEM, <br />MID-PLAINS AND REGION III: Janulewicz requested that this item be <br />tabled because he is to meet with Rod Bass tomorrow. Stelk made a <br />motion. and Landis seconded to place this agreement on the agenda <br />for September 2, 1997. Abernethy, Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk <br />all voted yes and none voted no, with Hartman and Lancaster <br />absent. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Landis requested that the gun club location at Cornhusker Army <br />Ammunition Plant be postponed until September 2. The Reuse <br />Committee will be having a meeting later this month and all the <br />board members should be present. <br /> <br />RICK STEPANEK - BOILER REPAIR: Rick Stepanek was not present but <br />his secretary presented copies of the bids for the boiler repairs <br />to the board members. Quandt questioned if any local firms could <br />do these repairs but they are not able to do the work. Stepanek <br />recommended American Boiler. Quandt stated this should be <br />discussed with the building and grounds committee and they should <br />come back with a recommendation. The committee consists of <br />Hartman, Long and Abernethy. They will meet next Tuesday at 8:00 <br />a.m. and come to the board with a recommendation. Stelk made a <br />motion and Landis seconded to table this item and come back next <br />week with a recommendation from the building and grounds <br />committee. Abernethy, Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all voted <br />yes and none voted no, with Hartman and Lancaster absent. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />MISCELLANEOUS RECEIPTS: Stelk made a motion and Landis seconded <br />to accept and place on file the County Treasurer's miscellaneous <br />receipts. Abernethy, Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all voted <br />yes and none voted no, with Hartman and Lancaster absent. Motion <br />carried. <br />
