Landis <br />requested that this information be shared with the various tire <br />companies. Lancaster received a copy of a news letter on grants <br />for cities and towns. Some of this information may be available <br />from other offices that write grants instead of purchasing this <br />newsletter. Abernethy stated that information on the juvenile needs <br />assessment should be received soon. <br /> <br />BOARD SECRETARY REPORT: Lisa Hagen included her progress report <br />in the packets and stated that the change report for the Wood <br />River Warm Slough Project is in her office if the board wants to <br />review it. <br /> <br />BOARD MEMBER REPORTS: Stelk - She attended the long-range <br />planning meeting, the Health Board meeting and there will be a <br />conditional use committee meeting at 9:30, August 13. <br /> <br />Quandt - None <br /> <br />Landis - She attended the safety committee meeting last Wednesday <br />and will have the conditional use committee meeting August 13, at <br />9:30 a.m., a Weed Board meeting August 12, and the budget work- <br />study sessions this week. <br /> <br />10:45 a.m. Stelk made a motion and Abernethy seconded to go into <br />a board of equalization meeting. Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, <br />Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />11:10 a.m. Returned to regular session. <br /> <br />BOARD MEMBER REPORTS: Hartman - He commentec~ on the articles in <br />the paper on the prison. He also questioned if a letter had <br />been sent to surrounding counties regarding a local jail. This <br />letter was to see if any counties would be interested in a <br />possible bond issue to support building a jail. He felt this <br />letter should be addressed. <br /> <br />Abernethy - She attended a long range planning meeting concerning <br />the over crowding in the jail and the needs assessment should be <br />received soon. She attended a Heartland Vision meeting and a <br />meeting in Lincoln on the juvenile needs. <br /> <br />5 <br />
