<br />q 'if Fo.~~ 71 <br /> <br />COUNTY BOARD SECRETARY REPORT: Carol Spiehs stated that the board <br />room coffee pot needs replaced and the typewriter in the office <br />will not type envelopes. The board members instructed her to <br />purchase a new coffee pot a new typewriter and have the copier <br />repaired. <br /> <br />BOARD MEMBER'S REPORTS: Stelk stated she attended a health board <br />meeting, a library board meeting and a computer committee <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Landis - She attended the corrections department interviews, <br />computer committee meeting, audit committee and an ADA committee <br />meeting. County Government Day will be held Tuesday November 3. <br /> <br />Lancaster - She read the invitation to Irene Abernethy's open <br />house for October 30. She attended the computer committee, audit <br />committee and a Convention Visitors Bureau meeting. There was a <br />MAAA meeting also. She reported that the attendance at the adult <br />day care is up and they are working on the 501-3C and did get a <br />response from the internal revenue service. The video tape on <br />the adult day care has been completed. <br /> <br />Long - He attended the CNCS meeting in Loup City, the audit <br />committee meeting, and MAAA and they are looking at better ways <br />to serve the elderly. <br /> <br />Abernethy - She attended the interviews for the corrections <br />department and the open house at the juvenile staff secure <br />center. She encouraged the board members to visit the Crisis <br />Center and the Family Violence Center. <br /> <br />Hartman - He stated that he was asked to tour a large dairy farm <br />in Kansas but would be unable to attend. This is in response to <br />a request to build a 3000 head dairy near Doniphan. This would <br />be a 9 to 10 million dollar facility. The other meetings he had <br />attended were reported on. <br /> <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Landis stated that the ag-land valuation <br />board will be meeting November 6 and Hartman stated he would <br />attend. <br /> <br />Stelk stated that the computer consultant William Bennett is <br />working on a problem in the veterans service office on the <br />response time on their program. To reduce the waiting time some <br />upgrades will need to be installed at a cost of $1,600.00. <br />Landis made a motion and Stelk seconded to follow the consultants <br />recommendation to install the upgrades in the veterans service <br />office. Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all <br />voted yes and none voted no with Abernethy absent for the vote. <br />Motion carried. <br />
