<br />tv &tJO/ <br /> <br />HALL COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING JANUARY 13, 1998 <br /> <br />The Hall County Board of Supervisors met from adjourned session <br />and by published call January 13, 1998, at 9:00 a.m. in the <br />County Board meeting room, 121 South Pine, Grand Island, <br />Nebraska. <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Huey Long. <br /> <br />The Pledge of Allegiance was given in unison. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL: Present on roll call were Irene Abernethy, Richard <br />Hartman, Margaret Landis, Huey Long, Gary Quandt and Tammie <br />Stelk. Pamela Lancaster was absent. <br /> <br />9:05 a.m. DR. DAVID BASS - MID-NEBRASKA INDIVIDUAL SERVICES: Dr. <br />David Bass requested to update the board on Mid-Nebraska <br />individual Services. The financial condition is in the black and <br />they have been able to make some salary adjustments. They are <br />currently working on equity in pay to providers. They now <br />receive 85% of methodology and Mid-Nebraska hopes to increase it <br />to 90%. The aging agencies, mental health and mental retardation <br />have formed a coalition with NACO for a lobbyist. Mr. Bass <br />thanked the County Board for their continued support. <br /> <br />CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR 1998 COUNTY BOARD CHAIR: County Clerk <br />Marla Conley called for nominations for the County Board Chair. <br />Abernethy nominated Huey Long and Quandt nominated Richard <br />Hartman. Landis moved and Quandt seconded to close nominations. <br />Quandt questioned why it had to be a secret ballot. The ballots <br />were collected and Richard Hartman received four votes and Huey <br />Long received two votes. Richard Hartman was elected as <br />Chairman. Huey Long presented the gavel to Richard Hartman and <br />Mr. Hartman presented Mr. Long with a plaque of appreciation for <br />his service as 1997 Chairman. <br /> <br />CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR 1998 COUNTY BOARD VICE-CHAIRMAN: County <br />Clerk Marla Conley called for nominations for the Vice-Chairman. <br />Landis nominated Tammie Stelk and Quandt nominated Huey Long. <br />Landis moved and Quandt seconded to close nominations. The <br />ballots were collected and tallied by Lisa Hagen. Long received <br />three votes and Stelk received three votes. The ballots were <br />cast again with Stelk receiving three votes and Long three votes. <br />This will be addressed again later in the meeting. <br /> <br />Stelk made a motion and Landis seconded by consent agenda to <br />accept the following: <br />accept and place on file the minutes of December 23 <br />set the public hearing for a conditional use permit for <br />Heartland Coop for January 27, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. <br />
