<br />F1999018<i <br /> <br />HALL COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING MAY 25, 1999 <br /> <br />The Hall County Board of Supervisors met from adjourned session <br />and by published call in the county board meeting room, 121 South <br />Pine, Grand Island, Nebraska, May 25, 1999, at 9:00 a.m. <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Bud Jeffries. <br /> <br />Present on roll call were Scott Arnold, Richard Hartman, Bud <br />Jeffries, Pamela Lancaster, Margaret Landis, Lonnie Logan and <br />Tammie Stelk. AlsD present were Deputy County Attorney Jerry <br />Janulewicz and news media representatives from the Grand Island <br />Independen t and KRG I . <br /> <br />MINUTES OF MAY 11 MEETING: Hartman made a motion and Logan <br />seconded to accept and place on file the minutes of the May 11 <br />meeting. Arnold, Hartman, Jeffries, Lancaster, Landis, Logan and <br />Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />APPROVE RESOLUTION AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN AGREEMENT FOR <br />REFEREES: Deputy County Attorney Jerry Janulewicz presented the <br />agreement for the referees. This is the renewal of the agreement <br />with Great Plains Appraisal for the referee services for the <br />property valuation protests. Hartman made a motion and Lancaster <br />seconded to approve Resolution # 99-0025 and authorized the chair <br />to sign the agreement. Arnold, Hartman, Jeffries, Lancaster, <br />Landis, Logan and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #99- ()(~'S <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPOINTING REFEREES <br />FOR THE 1999 TAX ASSESSMENT YEAR <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Neb Rev. Stat. 77-1502 (1996 Reissue) requires that the Hall County Board <br />of Equalization shall hold a session on not less than three days, for the purpose of reviewing and <br />deciding protests filed pursuant to Neb. Rev. Stat. 77-1502 to 77-1507; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Neb. Rev. Stat. 77-1502.01 (Reissue 1996) authorizes the Board of <br />Equalization to appoint one or more suitable persons to act as referees to hear protests in the first <br />instance and to transmit to the County Board of Equalization all papers relating to such protests, <br />together with written fmdings and recommendations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the County, to accommodate the volume of protests and to afford each <br />taxpayer ample opportunity for a meaningful hearing before a qualified individual, has <br />determined that it should appoint referees to hear the protest filed for the 1999 assessment year; <br />and <br />
