HALL COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION MEETING NOVEMBER 8, 2011 <br /> 9:05 a.m. Quandt made a motion and Ziola seconded ta go into a Board of Equalization <br /> meeting. <br /> ROLL CALL VOT� — Present on roll call vote were Scatt Arnold, Pamela Lancaster, Bob <br /> McFarland, Daniel Purdy, Gary Quandt, Steve Schuppan and David Ziola. Also present was <br /> Deputy County Attorney Jack Zitterkopf and Board Assistant Stacey Ruzicka. <br /> NOTIC� OF OPEN ME�TING LAW — Chairman Lancaster read the notice of the open meeting <br /> law. <br /> MINUTES — Quandt made a motion and Ziola seconded to approve the minutes of the October <br /> 25, 2011 meeting. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted <br /> yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> COUNTY TREASURER— DISCUSS AND APPROVE EXEMPTION APPLICATION FOR <br /> SALVATION ARMY, 818 WEST THIRD, GRAND ISLAND -- County Treasurer poris Mason <br /> presented the exemption application for the Salvation Army, 818 West Third Grand Island for a <br /> 1993 GMC Suburban to be used the Christmas Kettle fund raising, transport people to job sites <br /> for the kettle season to pick p and drop off people from church and community events and <br /> church activities and for food and clothing pickup She recommended appraval under Nebraska <br /> State statute 77-2102 and is requesting the County Board's approval. <br /> Ziola made a motion and Schuppan seconded ta approve the exemption application for the <br /> Salvation Army for the 1993 GMC. Arnold, l.ancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan <br /> and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried <br /> ASSESSOR TERC LITIGATION SUMMARY AND REQUEST FOR AUTHORITY TO <br /> NEGOTIATE �N PENDING TERC APPEALS — County Assessor Jan Pelland and <br /> County Attorney Jack Zitterkopf were pr�sent. <br /> Ms Pelland stated that in 2a10 there were 15 appeals and of that 7 have been settled. <br /> Some af these were the structures at Platte Valley Academy. And they also settled with <br /> Swift and 4 cases were dismissed by the opposing party. They did attend 3 hearings <br /> and 2 were successful. The appeal on the Grand Island Mall was offered a square faot <br /> valu� and that would be a $4,000.00 decrease and th�y did approve the value that the <br /> county offered. Mr. Zitterkopf stated that the county board set the value at $2.9 million <br /> and the Grand Island Mall was asking for $800,OOO.QO but the value was reduced by <br /> $4,OOO.pO. <br /> Pelland stated that the case with New Halland is still pending it is scheduled for hearing <br /> on February 15, 2�12. <br /> This year 24 appeals were the sectian 42 housing and she hopes they will be combined <br /> into 1 or 2 hearings. There are 6 on the Piccadilly Apartm�nts and only 11 other <br /> appeals. Some were filed as a continuatian for example Grand Island Mall and K Mart <br /> filed again. They may not have hearing dates until spring. She is requesting authority <br />
