HALL COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION MEETING JUNE 21, 2011 <br /> 9:05 a.m. Quandt made a motion and Arnold seconded to ga into a Board of <br /> Equalization meeting. <br /> ROLL CALL VOTE — Present on roll call vote were Scott Arnold, Pamela Lancaster, <br /> Daniel Purdy, Gary Quandt, Steve Schuppan and David Ziola. Bud Jeffries was absent. <br /> Also present was County Attorney Jack Zitterkopf. <br /> NOTICE OF OPEN ME�TING LAW —Vice Chairman Lancaster read the notice of the <br /> open meeting law. <br /> MINUTES —Arnold made a motion and Quandt seconded to place on file the minutes of <br /> the June 7, 2011 meeting. Arnold, Lancaster, Quandt, Purdy, Schuppan and Ziola all <br /> voted yes and none vated no. Jeffries was absent. Motion carried. <br /> APPROVE EXEMPTION APPLICATION FOR H�ARTLAND LUTHERAN HIGH <br /> SCHOOL FOR A 2000 FORD - County Treasurer poris Masan presented the exemption <br /> application for Heartland Lutheran High School, 3900 West Husker Hwy, Grand Island, <br /> N� for a 2000 Ford E150 to be used to transport students, sponsors coaches and <br /> teachers to various events. She recommends approval under Nebraska State Statute <br /> 77-2Q2 and is requesting the board's approval. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Arnold seconded to apprave the exemption application for <br /> Heartland Lutheran High School. Arnold, Lancaster, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and <br /> Ziola all vote yes and none voted na with Jeffries absent. Motian carried. <br /> DISCUSSION REGARDING 30% INCREASE FOR COMM�RCIAL SERVICE GARAGE <br /> OWNERS - Quandt put this on the agenda because of some phone calls and expressed <br /> concern an the fact that there was an increase on these buildings. He stated it shouldn't <br /> make any difference what business is using it. He stated that County Assessor Jan <br /> Pelland is attending a TERC hearing in Kearney. <br /> Lancaster stated that she discussed this with Jan and the adjustment had to be mad�. <br /> Schuppan stated he also talked to her and it is based on the value of the repair <br /> businesses that have changed hands. The values are higher than what they are <br /> appraised for. <br /> Arnold stated that these buildings have equipment that determines the type af property <br /> and how it is valued. Th�y are different than retail or storage units. <br /> 5chuppan stated the value is based an the sale of the automotive repair businesses. <br /> Arnold stated the demand for that type of business also affects th� sales and th� selling <br /> price. The locatian also affects the sale price. Schuppan stated he told the people ta file <br /> a protest. <br /> Quandt noted that same repair garages are popping up in storage units. <br /> Lancaster stated that setting the value is up to the assessor and the state ties her hands. <br />
