HALL COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATON MEETING JANUARY 18, 2p11 <br /> Quandt made a motion and Lancaster seconded to go into a Board of Equalizatian <br /> meeting. <br /> ROLL CALL VOTE — Present on roll call vote were Scott Arnold, Bud Jeffries, Pamela <br /> Lancaster, Daniel Purdy, Gary Quandt, Steve Schuppan and David Ziola. Also present <br /> was County Attorney Jack Zitterkopf and Board Assistant Stacey Ruzicka. <br /> NOTICE OF OPEN MEETING LAW—Chairman Jeffries read the notice af the open <br /> meeting law. <br /> MINUT�S — Quandt made a motion and Lancaster seconded to place on file the minutes <br /> of the January 4, 2011 meeting. Chairman Jeffries called for discussion and no one <br /> respanded. Arnold, Jeffries, Purdy, Lancaster, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted <br /> yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> COUNTY TREASURER—2011 MOTOR VEHICLE 457 TAX EXEMPTION — Deputy <br /> County Treasurer Jan Allan stated that this is the list of the 2011 motor vehicle tax <br /> �xemptions and the County Treasurer approved them as per Nebraska State Statute 77- <br /> 202. <br /> Arnold made a motion and Lancaster seconded to approve the 2011 motor vehicle tax <br /> exemptions. No discussian. Arnold, Jeffries, Purdy, Lancaster, Quandt, Schuppan and <br /> Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> COUNTY ASSESSOR--APPEAL FOR EXEMPTION FOR YMCA TO PROTEST 2010 <br /> PERSONAL PROP�RTY TAXES ON EQUIPMENT--County Assessor Jan Pelland <br /> stated that this is an appeal on the equipment at a satellite locatian. They purchased the <br /> equipment 2009 and included it on one schedule but with the new location a separate <br /> exemption would need to be filed. She does not have an exemption form on file for the <br /> new location. <br /> Jeffries noted that this is the same as the church issue. <br /> Lancaster expressed cancern that the last time it was a language issue but what can be <br /> done to help the public through these issues. <br /> Pelland stated that the personal property is self reporting. Her ofFice makes out an <br /> application for the following year once her office receives an exemption. <br /> Lancaster questioned if there wauld be a way ta send out notices because in cases like <br /> these the board cannot take any action. <br /> Pelland stated that if they sent out notices on all personal property and real estate it <br /> would take 30,000 notices. Lancaster stated that she would like to see a way to handle <br /> if from the front side. Pelland suggested adding a line to the tax notices. <br /> Jeffries stated that this does not happen very often if it is a late filing they can be <br /> addressed but with this the board cannot do anything. He wauld like to approve this <br /> exemptian. <br />
