PUBIC HEARING FOR PURCHASE O�' 15 PASSENGER BUS�FOR HALL <br /> C4UNTY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATON — McFarland made a motion and Ziola seconded to go <br /> into the public hearing. Arnald, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola ali <br /> vated yes and none voted na. Motion carried. <br /> Theresa Engelhardt, executive director and Dianna McKoski transit manager were present. <br /> This is an application for a 15 passenger bus with space for 2 wheelchairs. They distributed <br /> copies of the current inventory of buses with information an the year of the buses and the miles <br /> an each ane. There are twa higher mileage buses that they would like to retire. The older <br /> buses require a lot af main#enance dollars to keep them running. They will get an estimate of <br /> the fair market value and then sell the buses ar put them on a county auction. All of the radio <br /> equipment and #he lettering on the buses is an additional cost. <br /> Lancaster noted that there was a question if the papulation of the City af Grand Island was aver <br /> 50,000 then it would become a city transit system. Ms Engelhardt stated that they #alked to <br /> Jerry Ray and they will use the new census data to calculate the fiscal year appropriations but <br /> they do not have any informatian on that at this time. Even so there cauld still be a county <br /> transit system. Lancaster stated that she would encaurag� them to take aver poth systems. <br /> They will need more information and will need ta 3work together. Ms. Engelhardt noted that <br /> there were letters of support included. <br /> Schuppan questianed if this was an additional bus but Ms. McKoski stated that they want to <br /> retire 2 older buses so this would be a replacement, There is a lot of maintenance on the alder <br /> buses and they also have to repair the lifts. <br /> Quandt questioned if the city took over the transit system would they cover the, rural areas. They <br /> stated that the city would nat go to the rural areas. They would have to contract fa'r the service. <br /> Chairman Lancaster called for public participation or questions and na one responded. <br /> Purdy made a ma#ion and Quandt seconded to close the public hearing. Arnold, Lancaster, <br /> Mc�arland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motian <br /> carried. <br /> Purdy made a motian and Amald seconded to approve the lacal match of 20%� in the amount of <br /> $11,0OO.Oq for the purchase of the bus. This is a budget that has to be approved before the <br /> Caunty Board even sta�ts the county budget process. Amold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, <br /> Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> Held a Board of Carrection meeting at 1Q:30 a.m. <br /> 11:57 a.m. Returned to the regul�r baard meeting. <br /> 2) AWARD BID FOR LOADER �- Casey Sherlock was pres�nt and stated that the bid opening <br /> was held 2 weeks ago and they met with 2 af the equipment dealers and the cammittee <br /> recammends that the county purchase the Komatsu fram Road Builders. <br /> 2 <br />
