15. DISCUSS AND TAKE ACTION ON LEGISLATIVE BILL TO REQUIRE VOTER ID i <br /> Lancaster stated that she placed this an the agenda far discussion purposes and nated that <br /> NACO did nat support this bill because of the potential costs. This will be the last opportunity to <br /> address this before it is considered by the legislature. <br /> Purdy stated that he agre�s with the Governor and supports this bill to provide the voter ID. <br /> Schuppan nated that when you go ta the polls #a vote and yaur name is on the list you would <br /> show the ID and be allowed ta vote. If your name is not on the list you would receive a <br /> pravisional ballat. <br /> Election cammissioner Dale Baker stated that if you ga to the polling place and cannat prove <br /> that you live there the voter would b� given a provisional ballot. They can vo#e but the ballot is <br /> placed in a separate ballot box and the ballot is reviewed to make sure that yau are a registered <br /> voter. <br /> Schuppan quested wh�t the difference would be and Ms. Baker stated that if you do not have <br /> an ID you would vote on a provisional ballot and then have 10 days to provide the information. <br /> It also pratects the voter in case there was a mistake or the vater goes ta the wrang palling <br /> place. She talked ta the secretary of state on haw it could impact her office and it appears that <br /> there are 573 voters that do not have any ID attached so she would have to send natice to the <br /> people to obtain the necessary information. There will always be peaple that do not have an ID. <br /> The bill and been amended and her concern is that there is a double standard in the bill. <br /> Lanca�ter stated she put this an the agenda for discussion and noted an issue regarding <br /> M�dicare fraud. She would like to let our senators know what the caunty baard feels abaut this <br /> issue. <br /> Ms Baker stated that the voter ID would be a good thing far the poll workers but there is <br /> incansistency pn who has to have an ID. <br /> Schuppan noted that once you went through an elec#ion peopl� would know they had to have <br /> an ID. Discussion was held. <br /> Purdy made a motion and Schuppan seconded ta send a letter to #he state senatars supporting <br /> the voter ID bill. Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and <br /> none voted na. Arnold was absen#. Motion carried. • <br /> 7. 1Q:15 A.M. PUBLIC HEARING FOR HALL COUNTY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION <br /> FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE — Quandt made a mation and Purdy seconded ta open the public <br /> hearing. Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and nane <br /> voted no. Arnold was absent. Motion carried. <br /> Lanc�ster stated that this public hearing includes the agreement with Senior Citizens Industries <br /> and Hall County, the agreement with Senior Citizens Industries and Camstack Corporation for <br /> the cab tickets and the approval of the applicatian far the financial assistance. � <br /> Chairman Lancaster called for public participation. <br /> Carl Hughes President of the Senior Citizen's Board came forward.
