HALL COUNTY BOARD OF CORRECTIONS MEETING NOVEMBER 13, 2007 <br /> The Hall County Board of Corrections met from general session and by published call. <br /> 11:30 Lancaster made the motion and Jeffries seconded it to go into the Board of <br /> Corrections. Arnold, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster, and Rye were present. Eriksen and <br /> Wagoner were absent. Arnold, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster and Rye all voted yes, <br /> none voted no. <br /> ROLL CALL — Members present were Scott Arnold, Bob Humistion, Bud Jeffries, <br /> Pamela Lancaster, and Bob Rye. Jim Eriksen and Daniel Wagoner were absent. <br /> Open Meeting Law — Chairman Arnold read the notice of the open meeting law. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION- Chairman Arnold called for public participation and no one <br /> responded <br /> CORRECTION DIRECTORS REPORT <br /> Correction Director Fred Ruiz was present. He informed the Board that the budget is <br /> looking well for this quarter; publication line item is a little high due to the advertisement <br /> cost for new correction employees. Overtime cost is at 16% which with the scheduling is <br /> being controlled. <br /> Contingently plans for moving inmates some concerns still existing is will there be <br /> enough time and people for the March 28, 2008 completion date. Most of the corporals <br /> and all of the sergeants have taken observation training. <br /> Health screening for new employees is being given; the Corrections Department is <br /> following the same screening questionnaire as the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training <br /> Center. <br /> He informed the Board the correctional facilities in Torrington Wyoming are looking at <br /> possibly contracting for the housing of some of their inmates until their facilities are <br /> completed. <br /> ICE contacts have spoken with our State Senators and Congressman at the possibility of <br /> renting space in our facilities. What will need to be done is have a lease const analysis <br /> done by a licensed realtor who specializes in rental cost for business offices. <br /> Plans are being made for the laying of the cornerstone by our local Masonic Lodge. <br /> He informed the Board that the pulling of wire throughout the complex may take for six to <br /> seven weeks to complete. <br /> There has been an increase in the number of trails and transportation of inmates lately <br /> which is always additional cost. But with the new judge all of the court rooms are busy. <br />
